Everything about the A13 Bionic Chip

Each year, Apple takes a big leap forward with their chipsets. They get more powerful, efficient but here is why the A13 Bionic is years ahead of the competition.

At Apple’s September Event last month, the A13 Bionic was announced on stage. The technology giant shocked the world once again with the capabilities of their new chip.

Apple claims the new A13 chip has the fastest CPU and GPU ever in a smartphone. The chip has two high-performance cores clocked at 2.65 Ghz, and four energy-efficient cores. The low-power cores are used when you’re doing basic tasks, like writing notes or scrolling the web whereas the high-performance cores kick in during intensive activities like playing a game or exporting a video.

Apple has incredibly managed to render the four energy-efficient cores to use 40% less power. The GPU’s four cores are 20% faster than that of the A12’s, but amazingly managing to run 40% more efficiently. The new and improved Neural Engine inside the chip boasts an impressive eight cores and has 8.5 billion transistors. It also gets a 20% speed increase from last year while getting 15% more efficient.

In Geekbench 4, the chip yields outstanding scores: a single-core score of 5472 and a multi-core score of 13769. For comparison, the Exynos 9825 chip used in the recently released Samsung Galaxy Note 10 could only muster a single-core score of 3499 and a multi-core score of 10831. This means that the single-core score of the iPhone is over 35% better than the Note 10, and the iPhone’s multi-core score is over 20% greater than the Note 10. These are some truly impressive statistics.

The Apple A13 Bionic is present in all the latest iPhone models: the 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

Apple is way ahead of the competition. Experts say that the A13 Bionic will still be competent in two or three years with the best rival chips.

What do you think of the power of the A13 Bionic?
