After last year’s warm reception to the all-new Apple Watch Ultra, designed specifically for those who need the most out of their watch, Apple has now unveiled the update to this watch. With a few new useful features and a host of watchOS improvements, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a worthy successor.
Although not too heavy of an update, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 did bring a few notable improvements. Most visibly, the under the hood improvements by the all-new S9 SiP, now power the Always‑On Retina display to 3000 nits at its peak, making it even more readable in harsh sunlight.
On the contrary In low-light situations, it dims to 1 nit. Night Mode now activates automatically in the dark.
The large display gives you room to customize your view to suit almost any activity. And a new watch face shows dynamic info like altitude, depth, or seconds along the outermost edges. In Apple’s presentation, they spent a few minutes discussing a new feature they’re bringing taken from the Apple Watch’s accessibility options, where you can simply double ‘click’ your index and thumb fingers twice to mimic a tap on the most important button in the current software.
We think of the edition of the Ultra more as a small update to the original, which already brought so many different changes from the regular line. You’ll be pleased to know Apple is bringing Carbon Neutral watchbands to the Apple Watch, and have made it their first entirely carbon neutral product.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 retails at the same starting price of $799. You can also get a great discount on the last year’s Apple Watch Ultra on Amazon.
